Audi Q7 4x4 - Buyers Guide
For 25 years
Audi have made
quattro for their
cars. Now they made the
car for
quattro – the new
Audi Q7 4x4. Refining the raw power of the quattro drive train, this 7 seater is a true performance
SUV, at home on any road.
The last of the three premium German marques to introduce an
SUV,
Audi, has come up with the
Audi Q7 4x4, an unashamed pitch at the luxury market rather than at true off-roading performance. Standard kit is impressive: every model features air suspension, seven seats and a vast array of gadgetry in a spacious body. Lithe handling is impressive in a
car of this height and weight and, like all
Audi models, build quality is immaculate, but the ride is firm to the point of discomfort. Few large
4x4s are unsafe for their occupants, yet
Audi packs in almost every active and passive safety aid just be sure.
For the
Audi Q7 the
Audi designers have defined a
vehicle concept that is entirely new. The classic, square, two-box design of earlier
SUVs has been translated into an individual, flowing shape, and the
Audi Q7 boasts one of the most sporty designs in the premium
SUV segment. Its proportions, together with the coupé-like roof line and the streamlined rear spoiler, give a dynamic appearance.
All
Audi Q7 models have stability control, ABS, brake-force distribution, brake assistance, traction control and full-time four-wheel drive with electronic differential lock. The airbag count is high, at 10, with more available as extras. Security measures include deadlocks, immobiliser, visible
Vehicle Identification Number and a lockable glovebox, plus several other concealed storage areas.
